Women Who Know Alaska
A sampling from Women Who Know Alaska
October 24 ~ November 29, 2014
Artists, Robby Mohatt, Mary Beth Michaels, Linda Payne and Eloise Larson commiserated for a combination of 100+ years as wives, mothers, and teachers in the extremes of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Together, they faced an environment that shaped a very male art atmosphere dominated by the landscape. Alone in their studios they make the only kind of art that they can, Fashioned by personal experience and spirit.
Pursuing many forms and mediums, their work expresses what they needed to communicate and taught them what they needed to learn as women of the north.
