“The CHAIRity Show” opened at Liberty Arts featuring chair-themed art auctioned for charity.
Over two dozen artists created chair-art of all types and media for this unique exhibition, with proceeds from selected chairs going to community charities chosen by the artist.
The opening coincided with the first blizzard of the year, so guests – including sculptor David Gochenour and Liberty Arts’ Assistant Director Sharon LoMonaco (above), bundled up and braved the elements to attend the show.
Artist extraordinaire, William Wareham (L), who has several paintings and sculptures in the show, talks shop with Brian Meek (R).
Artist Emily Rankin (L) holds court near her art chair, which has a penny-covered seat.
Guests examine Rajiv Hotek’s diorama, “After The Concert.”
Lewis Meyers, Jr. (L) and Lenita Higgs keep the snacks stocked and the wine flowing.
Raffle organizer Robin O’Brien (center) works hard to sell those tickets.
The sign of a truly functional art piece: William Wareham pulls up a chair.
Guests converse, conspire…
…commingle and confabulate.
For a cold, snowy night, Yreka was surprisingly active due to the annual City of Lights event going on in the Historic District, where Liberty Arts resides.

Liberty Arts’ Creative Director, Kim Presley (L) enjoys the final exhibit of another successful year for the non-profit gallery she started 5 1/2 years ago.
The Liberty Arts staff would like to extend their gratitude to all the artists, guests, friends and family who have supported the gallery over the past year.
We wish you all a fabulous holiday season, a Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you again for another exciting year of contemporary fine art exhibitions and community activities in 2014!
