Liberty Arts celebrated the opening of “Personal Landscape,” featuring Bay Area artists Robert Poplack and Jan Wurm.
On a beautiful spring evening in the far reaches of northern California, Liberty Arts Gallery hosted an opening reception celebrating the work of painters Robert Poplack of Sebastopol, and Jan Wurm of Berkeley. Both artists made the trek up from the Bay for the opening, and shared an enjoyable evening of art, conversation and local Yreka hospitality.
Jan Wurm (above) creates expansive, large-scale paintings that explore the games people play throughout life and the lessons they learn. She focuses on expressing how our behavior is modeled as we develop a “sense of goals and notions of power.”
In his paintings, Robert Poplack (above) explores the use of rhythms, gestures, and movement to convey expressive possibilities found in nature.
The show’s curator, William Wareham, discussed why he felt pairing these two artists would make for a compelling exhibition.

An Artist Discussion was scheduled for 6pm…
