Liberty Arts opens “The Great Ocean,” with Eloise Larson & Nickki Lee Hill, on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.
The Great Ocean exhibition features paintings, poetry and photographs by Eloise Larson and Nickki Lee Hill and their new book dealing with the nature of existence.
“Do not think there is anything outside the Great Ocean, and do not think there is anything more than the Great Ocean…the Great Ocean just is.” ~ Reverend Master Jiyu Kennett, Founding Abbess of Shasta Abbey Buddhist Monastery
“This show is a result of a year-long inquiry on the nature of Death and my desire to understand the pathways of consciousness through matter. I hope these treasure maps can show you how to tell yourself a story, or how to ask the questions as we navigate through this terrain of form to formlessness and back again in this holy task of living.” ~ Nickki Lee Hill
“From childhood, I’ve been collecting dead things, not really knowing why. Since I began preparing for this show almost two years ago, I have had no choice in accepting impermanence as I experience the cycles of life and death around me. Greeting each day in stillness, I do the work that comes to me.” ~ Eloise Larson
