Lizzy Roy and Liberty Arts stage Youth Art Auction to raise funds for ‘Explorations’ Art Education Program.

Earlier this year, Yreka High School student, Lizzy Roy (above, in mint green dress) approached Liberty Arts with an idea to stage a Youth Art Auction that would raise funds for our art education program, Explorations. After much planning and coordinating, Lizzie held her auction on Friday, August 5th, during the opening reception for Gazpacho, our Annual Members’ Show.

With the summer winding down, Liberty Arts will be gearing up for another full season of weekly visits from area grade school students. The Explorations classes take place on Tuesdays, when we are closed to the public, and we invite two groups per day to come in and experience educational lectures, tours of the gallery exhibit, and hands-on art projects that the students get to take home.

Lizzy’s art auction, which featured art made by area youngsters, took place on the patio next to the gallery. In addition to our opening reception, the Yreka Art Walk was also going on that night, and there was live music at The Audacity and Café, so it was a busy and enjoyable night on Miner Street.

Lizzy did a great job engaging the guests and putting her sales techniques to the test, as she helped raise money that will go towards purchasing art supplies to facilitate the Explorations program.

Liberty Arts sends a big Thank You to Lizzie for her initiative, her great idea and a job well done. We also would like to thank our Partners, Patrons and Members for all your support, and for making both our Gazpacho opening reception and Youth Art Auction a Spicy, Summery, Delight-ful Success!
