The Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water & Ether
9 years, 2 months ago Posted in: Past Exhibits 2

Exhibition Dates: June 10 – July 4, 2009

This exhibit aims to explore the Classical elements, Earth Air, Fire, Water, and Ether
brought to life.

The theme posed the following questions to the artist:

1. How is Air perceived?
2. How is Fire utilized and what results?
3. How is Earth felt?
4. How is Ether seen, understood or imagined?
5. What does Water have to tell us?

Responses varied both visually and viscerally as the artist attempted to contain or define the elements in some way. Choice of medium and process often reflected the use of particular elements in the creation of the artwork.

As you explore this multi-faceted work, ask yourself which element did the artist choose to release, conjure or invoke?

My, I am so impressed how diverse the shows are at this gallery.

Brenda, the beautiful thing about the diversity is that it’s created by the community! We have an annual community meeting that’s open to the public. People can come in and suggest exhibition themes and ideas, then vote on which one’s they want to see happen. As long as an idea gets voted in by the public and someone steps forth to curate, anything goes!
