Exhibition Dates: May 15 – June 6, 2009
Surrealism comes from the French word meaning “super reality” – the reality of the dreams, fantasies and imaginings that make up the major part of our subconscious mind.
The movement officially begun in 1924, when the first Surrealist Manifesto declared that it was the artists’ duties to free man’s unconscious personality from reason and inhibition.
Liberty Arts’ exhibition themed Surrealism focuses on the unexpected, incomprehensible, and illogical juxtaposition of imagery. Join us in freeing the image from its inevitable context and allowing the artist to release expression without logical boundaries. Thirty-three local artists explore and revisit the idea of Surrealism.

That piece by Barbara Soulé is quite intriguing. I would be interested to see more of her work.
