Artists – Come Make Your Mark at Liberty Arts

Liberty Arts kicks off the 2012 season with community art project, Anicca – 500 Hours Of Art.

“Anicca” (pronounced /əˈnik ə/) is a Pali word used in Buddhism referring to the belief that all things are impermanent and constantly changing.

For this exhibition, we will tape various grids on the walls of the gallery, provide a diverse collection of art materials and invite the public to come in and draw, write, paint, and sketch directly on the walls.

The community is invited to come in and create during the official Opening and Closing Paint Parties (details below), as well as anytime during gallery hours over the course of Anicca’s three-week run (i.e. 500 hours).

Opening “Paintbrush” Party
(Walls will be blank, ready to adorn)
Friday, January 20, 2012
5pm-7pm

Closing “White Roller” Party
(Now-adorned walls on full display…until we break out the white paint rollers)
Friday, February 10, 2012

Artist Call For Submissions: “The Living Show”

Liberty Arts extends an open invitation to all artists to submit proposals (in writing or drawings) for upcoming exhibition, The Living Show.

Curator, William Wareham, explains further the concept of this peculiar exhibition:

“ALIVE: Whether in a flower pot, a cage, or a vitrine, this is an opportunity for a proposal that involves the whole space, or part of the gallery. A jungle, or garden, a political statement on ecology, involving trees, bees, or an ant colony. Piece must include living organism.

We encourage a non-traditional viewpoint that risks a different way of thinking. We want to expand what makes it a work of art.”

Deadline for Proposals: March 2, 2012

Show Opens: Friday, April 6, 2012
